Aren’t you thankful for second chances? Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was play Super Nintendo. I loved the classics, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda, and Madden. In my opinion, one of the greatest inventions in console gaming was the “reset” switch on the SNES. If you were having a bad game or ran out of lives, you could flip the “reset” switch and start over.

There are real consequences in life when we sin against God. Our sin affects not only us but those we love and are closest to. There is no magic “reset” button to take back what we’ve done. The good news is that we serve a God who is merciful and gracious. When we repent, God is faithful to forgive us.

Our church has spent the summer studying through the book of Jonah. One thing I love about this book is that we see a vivid picture of God’s nature and character. We see that God is merciful, compassionate, gracious, and faithful. We see that He is a God of second chances. Aren’t you grateful that in spite of your past, God still allows you to be used for His glory and for your good! Will you live in gratitude of God’s faithfulness today?

Keep on!
